2019 BMW i8 Roadster presented along with i8 Coupe
After months of rumors, spy shots and teaser images, BMW finally unveiled the long-awaited i8 Roadster at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Along with the updated i8 Coupe, the Roadster will go on sale at the beginning of this year at the price of 124,730 pounds sterling – 12,000 pounds more than the hardtop version. An open hybrid sports car has got electronically operated soft fabric top which can be opened or closed for 15 seconds at speeds up to 50 km / h. Another feature of the roadster is the replacement of the rear side windows with black panels with aluminum overlays with the word “roadster” engraved on it.
Both the roadster and the coupe received modernized power units. In combination with the 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol turbocharged engine i8 now develops 369 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes 4.6 seconds. And the maximum speed is limited to 250 km / hour, while on a purely electric drive the car can travel up to 120 km.
The Roadster has received exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels with double spokes. As for the new safety features, we can note an optional acoustic pedestrian warning system.
