BMW M8 Gran Coupe, the high-performance four-door flagship, became the star of the Geneva exposition of BMW. The car is going to compete with the entire exclusive segment of the market – Porsche Panamera, Aston Martin, DB11, Bentley Continental GT and the new Mercedes-AMG GT.

The car’s profile is a classic four-door coupe with short overhangs in front and behind to help “to stretch” the shape. The roof is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) – the same lightweight material that is used for body panels on the BMW i3 and i8 models. Perhaps the most difficult aspect of the design of the model is the rear part, which includes remarkable muscular “shoulders” over the rear wheels, which are gradually increasing closer to the rear panel.

BMW did not disclose the technical details of the concept car, but it is expected that the production of the M8 Gran Coupe will share most of the basis with the recently launched M5. This means the car will get four-wheel drive, an eight-speed automatic transmission and 4.4-liter V8 engine with a twin turbo. If BMW decides that the power of M5 model will be enough for new car, then its engine will generate 592 hp, but considering the positioning of M8 Gran Coupe as a headliner of the model line, it is possible that the company will make it more powerful with more than 600 hp.
