Marvelous BMW i8 Concept Spyder

Firstly, BMW says the convertible car is a kind of shorter than the i8 coupe. The size look more like that of an actual car, and now, the driver no longer looks like he is siting in the forward half of the wheelbase. The new i8 can run on electricity alone for the first 19 miles. Later, the gasoline engine comes on and feeds power to both the rear wheels and also juices the battery pack. Pretty cool, i think.

BMW says that recharge time is two hours on a 240-volt European power outlet. Generally the weight the difference in weight between the coupe and convertible i8 won’t be too much. Hence the company says both cars will go from 0-60mph in less than 6 seconds. The Spyder is expected to arrive in 2014, or at about the same time as the coupe.

As compared to the coupe the spyder’s interior features look just a little more ready for real life. The center console looks to be descending from its trip, with real buttons next to the gear lever. This cool concept’s new features also include a discernible climate control system, and a standard iDrive knob. These are just a few differences between the i8 coupe and Spyder.
