BMW introduced a new data management system Part I

Lower power consumption, increased production reliability and high quality products: all three of these benefits are made possible in factories BMW Group with intelligent energy management information system (iEMDS).
The system is based on the use of intelligent electrical sensors that continuously measure the energy consumption of the production facilities and robots and connect them with a large central information network of the company. Because of this new complex can be successfully integrated with existing systems, recording data on energy consumption of buildings and structures to ensure, becoming their valuable addition. Due to the “smart meters” deviation leading to increased energy consumption can be detected at an early stage. Moreover, these data allow to prevent crashes and even failures of production facilities and robots, thus providing a level of quality required for the production of premium cars.

Intelligent energy management information system is a part of the production concept of BMW Group, entitled “Industry 4.0″. Its implementation supported by the European Regional Development Fund European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

More recently, a comprehensive approach to the intelligent BMW Group energy data management was the award-winning of Energy Masters Award, established by the Berlin administrative network Econique at the summit on sustainable development.
