New prototype of sedan 3-Series eDrive Part I

The German BMW company has created a prototype of sedan 3-Series eDrive with rechargeable hybrid (plug-in hybrid). Novelty is based on the new version of 3-Series, which will be presented next year. According to the manufacturer, the use of additional electric allowed to reduce fuel consumption in mixed mode, up to 2 liters / 100 km. New BMW hybrid 3-Series is built on a standard scheme for such systems: the basic two-liter engine with a turbo added to 95-horsepower electric motor that is powered by a set of lithium-ion batteries. In sum, two engines develops 245 horse powers and 400 Nm. In addition to the updated sedan Bavarian specialists upgraded 8-speed automatic transmission Steptronic.

The current version of the BMW 3-Series ActiveHybrid 3 with a 3.0-liter engine in the combined cycle consumes 5.9 liters of fuel. We should not forget that this is a classic hybrid and pure electric car can travel up to 4 km at a maximum speed of 75 km / h.
