Prototype of BMW 6-Series GT of 2018 model year was seen on the road
Only that person who once drove the BMW 5-Series GT will be able to understand what car it is. Externally, it is an enlarged sedan 5-Series, but inside it is more comfortable car than the 7-Series. However, the design of 5-Series GT can not be called attractive and the manufacturer was faced with the reluctance of motorists to buy the model.
Perhaps this is the reason, why BMW brand will try its luck with the successor of 6-Series Gran Coupe, combining the highest forms of a body with smooth lines of the ordinary coupe 6-Series. Considering this all, the Company has built new 6-Series GT. However, Gran Coupe also has not achieved great success and, most likely, the GT will simply replace the model.
Spotted prototype BMW 6-Series GT of 2018 model year demonstrates the familiar body shapes, but its headlights and the rear lights are borrowed from the sedan 5-Series. The car shares the platform with a new sedan, so it is expected that the model will get lighter weight. As for the power range, it will remain the same including a hybrid motor. This particular test vehicle is a model 630d with a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder inline turbo diesel unit. The novelty will take the price range between 5- and 7-Series, but it definitely should become affordable and attractive car.
