The new 2019 BMW M8 GTE will make its debut in Daytona

The new BMW M8 GTE will take participation in the 24-hour race in Daytona. For the first time a racing car of a German automaker in color sports graphics will see the world before its serial brother. Two cars that will participate in the race will be managed by the pilots of the BMW Team RLL, and will mark the premiere of the new model from Munich.

It was announced that the M8 GTE is equipped with a 4.0-liter eight-cylinder turbo engine TwinPower which is able to generate 500 hp. A power plant is united with a six-step sequential gearbox which is operated by an electrical switching system. M8 GTE was developed simultaneously with the serial model of BMW 8 Series Coupe.

The standard version of M8 is equipped with six- and eight-cylinders power plants. Although official information on engines is not yet available, they are likely to include a 3.0-liter six-cylinder version and a 4.4-liter 600-horsepower V8. According to rumors, even more powerful, 6.6-liter Twin Turbo V12 will be also included in a list, as well as the plug-in hybrid from the current 7-series.
