BMW 2 Series has got a four-wheel drive version

The BMW Group has presented the first official information about the new all-wheel drive versions compactvan 2 Series Active Tourer.
For the first time, BMW offers a four-wheel drive system xDrive for the model created for a front-drive platform and having a transversely mounted engine. BMW 225i xDrive Active Tourer and BMW 220d xDrive Active Tourer were modified firstly. Four-wheel drive transmission will be available so far only for top performances 2-Series Active Tourer with the most powerful engines. 8-speed automatic transmission Steptronic will be working in tandem with this engine. According to the creators, the weight of the car grew only for 61 kg, which should not affect any fuel consumption or the environmental parameters.

In particular, the gasoline BMW 225i xDrive Active Tourer consumes 6.4 l / 100 km in the combined cycle, which is equivalent to CO2 emissions at 148 g / km. A diesel version of the BMW 220d xDrive Active Tourer shows even better performance – 4.6 l / 100 km and 122 g / km of CO2 respectively.

Under normal driving conditions, xDrive all transfers torque to the front wheels, but when they slip electronics allows you to redirect to 100% of the flow of power to the rear axle. Sales of new items will appear in the next year. The cost is not yet reported.
