AC Schnitzer German studio brought the modified hybrid BMW i8 version to the Nordschleife to prove that their coupe is faster than other i8 models. Nevertheless, the result of the fastest lap is not too impressive, it is 8: 19.8. The tuning studio said that Bavarian coupe joined the famous group of supercars equipped by more powerful engines, although BMW’s power unit is not much different from the standard car.

The AC Schnitzer tuners could lower the suspension by 25 mm in the front and 20 at the rear due to the new springs installation, as well as there were offered light forged wheels and tires with the dimensions of front 245/35 R21 and rear 285/30 R21. For better aerodynamics and weight reduction, the hood has become carbon fiber, as well as front splashers, side skirts, air ducts, a splitter, wing and a rear diffuser. The i8 saloon is designed by a set of aluminum elements.

Racer Marcus Estraich, who earlier raced Nordschleife on the ACL2 prototype for 7: 25.8, is delighted with the BMW i8: He says that AC Schnitzer creates very fast cars, but it’s something special. As for AC Schnitzer workers, the modified i8 is a new record to be proud of and one more occasion to celebrate their 30th anniversary.
